We’re always in the mood to talk about Mama Earth. (Hellooo, we’re desert people!) But it’s almost Earth Dae, which means we’re even more in the mood. Here’s an exclusive look at the work we’ve been doing behind-the-scenes to ensure our clean haircare is sustainable.
First up—our Leaping Bunny certification
The world of cruelty-free is confusing. Why? Because even if a brand claims to be cruelty-free, there are legislative loopholes that allow them to continue testing on animals. The good news is that a Leaping Bunny certification provides complete assurance that a company has cleared animal testing from all stages of product development.
And guess what? We just became Leaping Bunny certified! That means we have voluntarily pledged to comply with a stringent list of criteria, including setting up a Supply Monitoring System for our suppliers and manufacturers, opening our doors to independent auditors, and more.
Second—our water initiative
According to the 2016 Residential End Uses of Water Study, the average American shower uses 15.8 gallons and lasts 7.8 minutes at a flow rate of 2.1 gallons per minute. Crazy, right? We’re ultra-conscious of the role we play in its consumption and want to do what we can to help.
For every Dae product purchased, we donate 15.8 gallons of water to charity:water—a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean water to developing countries. While access to this basic need may seem like a given, 785 million people live without it. charity:water works with local experts and community members to find the most sustainable solution to delivering safe drinking water, in turn helping to improve each population’s overall health and economy.
And last, but not least—our recycling initiative
As a society, recycling is one of the most important things we can do to help save our Earth. Yet, an EPA-funded Yale University study recently revealed the United States recycles less than 22% of its discarded materials. We purposely ensure all of our clean haircare packaging is recyclable to encourage every daedreamer to do their part.
